This Privacy Policy explains how Insurance Exchange ("we", "us", "the Platform") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use our website and mobile applications to obtain insurance quotes and policies in Brunei Darussalam. By using the Platform you consent to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Insurance Exchange is a digital marketplace that connects customers with licensed insurance agencies in Brunei. We are not an insurer; insurance policies are issued by the agencies and insurers you choose. We facilitate quotes, communication, and document handling between you and those agencies.

2. Information we collect

Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash).
Identity & KYC documents: identity card (IC) numbers and images, passports, business licences, and related verification documents that you upload so agencies and insurers can verify you and issue a policy.
Insurance request details: the information needed to quote you (e.g. vehicle details, travel dates and destinations, domestic-helper details, coverage preferences).
Payment information: payment proof documents you upload (we do not currently process card payments on the Platform; premiums are paid to the agency/insurer).
Communications: messages you exchange with agencies, agents, or support through the Platform.
Technical & usage data: device information, app version, and basic usage/diagnostic data needed to operate and secure the service. With your permission, the mobile app may access location for roadside-assistance features.

3. How we use your information

To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
To obtain and present insurance quotes from agencies, and to facilitate the issuance of a policy you accept.
To verify your identity (KYC) and meet legal, regulatory, and anti-fraud obligations.
To enable communication between you and the agency/agent serving you.
To send service notifications (quote updates, policy and payment status) and, where you have agreed, other communications.
To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Platform.

4. Legal basis & consent

We process your personal information on the basis of your consent (which you give by creating an account and submitting a request), to perform the service you request, and to comply with applicable Brunei law and regulatory requirements relating to insurance and identity verification. You may withdraw consent by closing your account, subject to records we must retain by law.

5. Who we share it with

Insurance agencies and insurers you request quotes from or accept a policy with — they receive the information needed to quote, verify, and issue your policy.
Service providers who help us run the Platform (cloud hosting, object/document storage, email and push-notification delivery), under obligations to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us.
Regulators, authorities, or as required by law — where we are legally required to disclose information.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Where your data is stored

The Platform's databases and document storage are hosted on cloud infrastructure located in the Asia-Pacific region (including Singapore). Your information may therefore be processed outside Brunei. We take steps intended to ensure it is protected to the standard described in this Policy wherever it is processed.

7. Security

We use measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and access-restricted (signed) URLs for your documents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and thereafter for any period required to comply with legal, regulatory, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations. When no longer required, information is deleted or anonymised.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you may delete your account from within the app or by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to information we are required to retain.

10. Children

The Platform is intended for adults (18+) able to enter into an insurance contract. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and where appropriate notify you in the app.
